Market Day is Here Again!

Market Day at the Greeting Farm happened again today. Quick, if you hurry you can still get some really great deals on some fantastic stamps. I picked up:

It's called Wonderland and it's on clearance. I have a couple of projects in mind for this, especially a late birthday present for someone who really loves Alice in Wonderland.

The first set was on sale, and in order to get it at that price, you have to go here. And again, it's only while supplies last.

I like the stamps, but I haven't done my review from the first set, so that'll be forthcoming. The thing I like least about the stamps is that you have to cut them out (and I don't have those small rubber-cutting scissors). But the red rubber is really nice and provides a FANTASTIC print. They don't stain like the clear stamps do, either.

If I keep buying, I'm going to run out of room in my rubber stamp container, so I'm thinking of unmounting a few of the big wood blocks I rarely use. This way, I get a little more room, I think.

I've been looking at a few more of the stamps, but I think they'll wait a while. I'm set for a bit of time. Now it's onto work on my coloring and other fantastic things.

Oh, and speaking of awesome stampers, check out the contest at Gaal Creative. Aside from being a talented stamper, she's an awesome photographer. This week's giveaway is inspiring and made me think of a book I read this year called 'Into the Forest.'

'Into the Forest' is the story of 2 girls who have survived a global fever and war. They live in the forest, in their nice home that their father constructed, but soon he, too succumbs to death and the girls are left to become women. It's not 100% happy, and it WILL make you think, but it's a fantastic read.

One other really cool stamper that I should mention is Sandy, who is participating in NaBloPoMo, which is National Blog Posting Month. Every day, she's featuring a Hero on her blog. Sandy is busy with Cards for Heroes, but it's absolutely fantastic that she's devoting time to blogging every day this month.

Wow!

Got my The Greeting Farm stamps last night in the mail (boy, was that fast shipping) and I have SO MANY things to tell you.
You're going to have to wait, though. Because I'm playing with them before I let you see anything, LOL.

So the Greeting Farm is off my wishlist (but definitely going to order more soon), what should be my next stamp company review???

I think I might go with the Stampsmith.net, or perhaps Bombshell, but I'm interested in a few others. So what companies out there do you like? Let me know!

Making the leap!!!!

I did it! I finally did it!

What did I do?

I picked up some physical stamps from 'The Greeting Farm.' It's an online community and store that features cute stamps of girls (Anya), boys (Ian) and animals. Anyas and Ians are really hot right now--many people I follow seem to have the stamps, and there's a huge following on both the main 'The Greeting Farm' site and it's sister site, 'Club Anya.'

I bought a few of the company's digital stamps earlier this year, and while I love them, I never remember to have cardstock ready for when I want to print them out. And if I have the cardstock, forget about me remembering the file with the stamps. I just have no idea why I can't remember to bring both things with me.

But that's in the past, since I've bought some physical stamps from the company, thanks in part to their low shipping cost and their 'Farmer's Market day.' Farmer's Market Day happens on the blog, and it's the day stamps are offered at a lower price, but quantities are limited. Though I've been looking at the site and wondering which to get for a while, I knew I had to act fast. Almost before I realized it, I had these little cuties in my cart:


They looked so adorable and functional. I can see using a lot of these for different types of cards. And since the shipping for one more was only a dollar more, I had to pick up this little one:


The best part? I only spent $20. And now I'm all nervous about getting them and playing around with them, especially with the Copics. I think they'll make an awesome addition to my collection, and a great way for me to experiment with some really cute stamps. Looking through my collection, I've noticed I don't have a lot of human type stamps you can color. That's something I hope to change.

Wow! Content Awesomeness

Today is all about content. Actually, this whole week is about content, with a really awesome surprise on Saturday...
I won't tell you exactly what, but I'm pretty sure you'll find it as exciting as I do.

Without further ado, here's the first of my very own webshow, Scrap N'Tell... It's a fun look into the scrapping world, from my own perspective.

Bad Girl!

I bought some rubbah! Okay, first of all, I only went into Joanne's because I needed something for a swap. That was it--in and out. But then, I realized that the twopeas post about items being clearanced for $4.97 in the stamping aisle coming up at $.97 at the register. So I bought a few. The one on the right has a dress stamp that I've seen before--think as wood-mounted--and that I loved. There are some sentiments on that I can definitely use, too. It's stampendous, I think.

The middle one is Hero Arts, and I love that it's all about friendship. I didn't have any of those, so it's nice to see these! And for $.97, it can't be beat.

The last one on the left is Fiskars, and I really liked the squiggly lines. I want to take them and put them on some cut outs, maybe use them as journalling or frames. I can't bring myself to doodle on my pages, though I doodle everywhere else, and I thought this might make a good transition into doodling.

So I picked up two sets of stamps that I think a stamper might like and, how weird is this, her daughter owns an LSS that I've been to locally. So I'm thinking I might just drop off her stamp goodie package off at the LSS because I picked up a set of stamps that had some March sentiments on them. Figured she could get going with St. Paddy's Day and all that. She gave me her addy, but I haven't packed them up yet, so she won't get them until at least Friday. I could totally drop them off tomorrow night and she'd get them early. I think. I hope.

Have to pick up the BF tonight from the airport just before 7 pm. He leaves in the morning at 7 am, and last night was the RCBP meeting, so I haven't had quality crafting time in a while. Eeek! But I did do laundry, dishes and bathing the dog. Spent some time with Max, he's the animal we've had the longest and i let him sit with me all by himself last night while I read--and then I feel asleep and woke up to him touching his nose to my cheek, so that was nice. It's rare that he gets me to himself and he constantly purrs when he gets it. LOL. Evie wasn't happy that she wasn't with us, but she's by herself with us plenty when she wants to be. I spent a lot of time with the dog over the weekend, who she hates, because the dog wasn't feeling well and Evie hates him and Max was in a mood. Remind me again why animals are easier than kids?

Whimsy stamping tryout

This little pink elephant represents my entry for the Whimsy design team. I originally heard about the call through The Card Universe and the link to the call can be found here:

I used Bazzill cardstock, the elephant image is Stampendous and stamped on plain white cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black soot and colored in with my Mulberry and Violet Prismacolor pencils. I placed it on a piece of Making Memories paper (from the (Sydney) line) and cut by my Fiskars Threading Water punch.
I stamped the enjoy sentiment using a Hero Arts clear acrylic stamp (from the ClearDesign: Tree, Birds And Messages sheet) with the black soot ink.
I embellished the whole thing with a paper flower that I had in my embellishment drawer and I adhered the petals together to let it stand up and made the middle glittery (a critical component!) with a dot of Goldenrod Stickles.
I plan on giving this card to someone with a baked good--to be a bit neighborly. Yum!

Pardon the lighting and angle of the photo. My camera isn't being cooperative (need a firmware update), so I had to use the cellphone. Eeek!

The Coloring Technique I Know

So I was trying to do a few challenges for Winterhaven, over at Stamp Haven, and I spent a LOT of time last night working on one--the coloring challenge!
I love color. I love crayons. I love colored pencils. I love markers. I feel, truly, as if the world is a better, more colorful place thanks to my Caran D'Ache watercolor pencils (Which I was introduced to in Switzerland when I was 13). I finally got my second tin 15 years later, they last long and they seem to have the best color, in my opinion.
Well, instead of watercolors, I decided to do something else that I tend to use a lot, Twinkling H2Os. I can't remember which colors I used for this Hero Arts stamp, but I added a dot of Glossy Accents by ranger to a lot of the circles. The card is a DCWV glitter card and the accent paper is BG Urban Prarie, with the buttons from the same line (I LOVE BG lately, and I love their buttons, too).
The basic principle of the Coloring challenge is to do something you're used to doing, as well as something new. And I LOVE the something new that I did... Check it out in the next post.

WSW: Reflections

What was my night last night? For the first time in so many months, I sat at my craft table (yes, I wasn't just using it to stack things on) and played, experimented and created. And it was FUN!

All too often in life, we give ourself these huge goals and, if you're like me, make huge lists of things we have to do. All to often we forget what we want to do.

What is so special about this week? Being that it's WSW (Worldwide Stamping Week), almost everything is special about it. Head on over to Twopeasinabucket.com and sign up for free membership. From there, you can access the master WSW Challenge thread and start stamping! It's 100% free and you'll probably feel better than ever. No, you WILL feel better than ever, because you'll be doing something fun and creating some wonderful projects. This is my first year, so I'm probably way too enthusiastic about it.

I used to be a 'creative' which meant I went to work and made layouts and played with web-safe colors and everything was cool. I also played on Nervousness.org (a mail art site) and made cards, atcs and the like. Then there was a reorganization where I work and I'm doing some Purchasing stuff. So, other than when I do NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) or Script Frenzy (National Screenplay Writing Month), I'm not really letting my creativity fly. Luckily, I signed up for a membership at Two Peas, and it's been wonderful. It's inspired me to create, which I never thought would happen again.

I still have a lot to do. I made 4 or 5 projects last night that need to be scanned, and I have a couple of challenges (okay, a whole list on notepaper, with sketches of what I want to do) to work on, but that's fine. Because really it's not about competition (thank you, Lisa Vollrath), it's about creating. And I have a few more days to do it in, so I think I'm good there. All I need to worry about is walking the dog and making sure I eat at some point. Other than that, I'm going to be playing with pretty, glittery things and velvety flocks and even some Caran d'Ache watercolor pencils (which are, quite possibly, the most perfect things on the planet). And I'm thinking pink and gold for a certain project, and I really hope I can pull it off because it would make me really happy. Will post more as soon as I can, but for now, just go and check out the site!
