17 August 2007, that's when I started this blog. It wasn't updated as much, as I'd originally hoped, I just had an idea, a drive and some free time.
The ideas still come in, but the drive and free time seem hard pressed lately. But it's okay because I have been doing a few things differently. Started a notebook with ideas. Made a calendar with deadlines. These are two tools that go really well with my favorite thing in the world--lists. Between the notebook and the calendar, I can conquer the world. Woo HOO!
My craft room isn't going as well as I'd hoped. Partially it's because I'm going out to sing karaoke 10000 times a week. Okay, sometimes I sing and sometimes I don't. There are places I will sing, and places I won't. HOWEVER, I need to work on some new material. I need to record myself and listen to myself to see what I'm doing right or wrong. LOL.
I've got a pretty free weekend this weekend, and I hope to get some time squared away. Tonight I'm working on my first real scrap for hire project--stuff for someone's family reunion. I'm brushing off the Cricut and digging into that paper. LOL. Making confetti, centerpieces, hanging elements and more.
I'm excited. Woo HOO!

Being Good is So Hard!!!!
I've resisted the urge to buy supplies for a bit. I ran out of adhesive a couple of days ago and was planning a painful trip to the 'pretty' store (meaning anything scrappy), but I was going through my photobox and found the forgotten refill I had put there (I store refills there on occasion because I use them when I scrap and of course I use photos when I scrap!)--a very welcome and happy surprise, but not a surprise.
Tonight I'm going to work on some layouts and some cards. I've gotten a few ideas that I scribble on the margins of my notepad, and ideas to try. There are so many inspirations around us, seriously, the internet is wonderful. It's the best place to share ideas and inspirations and learn new things!
For example, in the last couple of days, I've signed up for some new sites to help inspire me.
www.monamememories.com
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/
http://snrcardiverse.ning.com/
I'd heard of splitcoaststampers.com a long time ago, but I'd never actually signed up for an account. WOW! It's wonderful. There is so much to look at and to read. It's definitely a project for this weekend--getting accustomed to their massive site.
SnrCardIverse was something I heard about from a friend, and I like the tutorials it has, I also like a lot of the onboard video applications. It seems like it'll be really easy to upload the videos, so that's really cool. Mon Ame Memories is a really cool forum and store. There's a real sense of community there, and no drama, which is really cool. They're even having a design team call until tomorrow. I would suggest stopping there and seeing some of the wonderful work. There are a lot of talented artists there, and a lot of diverse projects.
Of course, I still visit Stamphaven (and you really should too) and TwoPeas (mostly to talk to people and to participate in swaps)...Seriously, there is SO MUCH out there on the internet. And, I faithfully follow a lot of creators online, both through blogger and through bloglines (an RSS reader). We're living in a great time I tell you.

Musings on a Fellow Blogger's post...
It started out as just a little question--one sentence from Anne.
I'd love to hear from you, too: how have you been encouraged and nurtured as an artist?
And it continued as an internal dialogue that has made me rethink things. See, a few years ago I started writing novels in November. I'd always been a voracious reader and my need of pens and paper and labels and all manner of things was legend at home.
When other kids asked for barbies, I asked for a legal pad or a book. Now, I got that barbie too, because my parents (I'm talking my mom and (step)dad didn't think it was cool to just get paper or pens or office supplies for presents.
I went to career day in jeans and a sweater and when people asked 'What are you?' I said, 'I'm a writer, or maybe a lawyer, but mostly a writer working from home.' *Yes, I've never been able to give a short answer, even at 11*
And when I told my parents what I was trying to accomplish, I remember my dad laughing, "What do you want to do that for?" and I will admit it stung. After all, we're always trading book lists and talking about weird books. My mom was just like 'Oh' I mean, she tried to be supportive in college, but I think it was always just 'okay give me what you wrote.' We didn't talk about it.
Surprisingly, my biggest cheering team in the writer arena was my father and continues to be. He always asks how the writing is going, and now, because I rarely have time, I have to admit that it's not going as well as I'd hoped. That I want to get some time and feel like a writer and produce something worthwhile and go through the submissions again.
And it's just not happening because there's so much to be done. Cleaning up, getting things ready for the festival, organizing a work area/scrap space... And with work, I just want to go home and sleep. Maybe it's a nasty case of the doldrums or maybe there's a fear inside that I'm afraid to show--that for the first time I might try something, put my all into it and not accomplish it. Normally I don't try, and I'm still okay... But what if I fail at something I really want?
This became too much of a downer too quickly and for that I'm sorry. But the moral of the story is this: If you really want to do something, do it. Life is too short to live with regret.
Now, onto trying to listen to my own advice!
I have a music player below my current posts. And I challenge you to take a listen to the first song. You have to select it and then press play (I decided not to have it playing automatically, because it's a pretty loud song)... It's a song that I think really tipifies my creative journey, it's called 'The Middle' and it's by Jimmy Eat World. I remember buying this cd when I was in college, and I can't help but smile every time I hear it.
And when you have a minute, stop by and check it out!

My new creative home
The reason I started this blog was so that I could explore my creative side. The only problem is that I never seem to post!
Anyway, I love the digi community at TwoPeasinaBucket.com. If you've never been, two peas is a great site for tutorials, paper and lots of other awesome stuff. There are free layouts, free courses in photography and much, MUCH more.
I just started to do some physical scrapping, after being a solid digi scrapper and mixed media art fan, and so that will be coming to my two peas blog (as well as here).
Anyway, here's my first pea blog. More is definitely on the way!
I hope you'll join me in my new creative journey. Please comment with your blog so I can see what's going on in your creative life!
